Online Exhibition at Clayton Festival 2021 - Bridging the Gap
Online Workshop series culminating in an Online Exhibition In 2021 during Covid Lockdown. Budding artists aged 12+ are invited to try their hand at applying ancient Indigenous techniques to modern art. Regarded as one of the oldest forms of art in the world, Warli art is indigenous to India and produced by the Warli tribe. Through its rejection of contemporary culture, the Warli tribes’ style of painting remains relatively unchanged with elements of nature and farming remaining focal points. Children/Adults learnt the basic techniques of the art style and how they can be adapted to create fusion artworks full of personality. With a demonstration and Q+A from a well-known Warli artist from India, in collaboration with INTACH (Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage) Participants were encouraged to attend all sessions. This series of online workshops culminated with an online exhibition where the creations of all the participants along with that of artist Rashmi Gore were exhibited. Enjoy the video.
